Worcester Polytechnic Institute sophomore outfielder and former LMLL and MHS SB player Virginia McKinney has now been named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Softball Defensive Player of the Year!

"Virginia McKinney was an NFCA Gold Glove winner in 2024 and had another standout performance in the outfield. She has committed just one error and fearlessly controls the outfield, diving in the gaps, stealing home runs at the fence, and showing her range in front, often stealing base hits. She posted 74 putouts in centerfield with three outfield assists."

McKinney, whose father T.A. still coaches in the LMLL Travel program, played Rec and Travel with LMLL for 9 years (T-Ball, Baseball & Softball), and clearly had another strong year as only a sophomore.   LMLL wishes Virginia much continued success!

McKinney had previously been named Player of the Week in late April per below.
