Click here to register for 8U tryouts.  Note that all players must satisfy LMLL eligibility requirementsPlayers should only attend ONE of the two tryout sessions – you will indicate availability when registering and will be notified which session you are assigned to attend (if you are able to attend both, please so indicate in your registration and you will be notified which to attend - you can express a preference for one or the other in your registration Comments).  Only players registered for these tryout sessions will be permitted to attend and tryout.  The LMLL travel program will only consider players who are participating in our Spring Recreational baseball season.

General travel baseball information:

Travel baseball is for those players interested in a more competitive baseball experience. LMLL fields summer and fall travel teams from the 8U through 17U age groups.  Here are some of the common questions regarding LMLL travel baseball:

  • What is travel baseball? - Travel baseball gives our players the opportunity to represent our league and the communities of Larchmont/Mamaroneck/Rye Neck in competition against other towns and little leagues.  The level of play and commitment to practices is higher than that found in rec baseball and consequently it is usually the highest skilled rec players that are offered travel roster spots.

  • How far is the travel? – We participate in the GHVBL (Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League).  Most games will be against other teams in the lower Westchester area but could be as far as a 40-minute drive.  There are no games requiring overnight accommodations.

  • What is the required commitment? - Summer teams will typically practice and/or play games 5 days a week over a season that runs from early June through early August.  Weekday games and practices are conducted 5pm and later leaving time for activities during the day.  Weekend games and practices can be any time during the day or evening. Players must be available for the entire season.  Families that take trips or vacation during the travel season create a difficult situation for the entire team to remain competitive throughout the season. Players who are selected to the team we ask you to plan trips after the season ends in August. Players are expected to attend all practices and games.

  • How is the 8U summer team selected? – The 8U travel teams will be selected through a formal tryout.  The 8U travel coaches with oversight from the LMLL travel committee will conduct the tryout assessments and finalize the summer roster.  Registering your child's interest in travel baseball and filling out the short questionnaire will help give fair consideration to all interested players.  However, unlike Spring Rec, registering and trying out does not guarantee your child will be offered a roster spot.  In most years we have more interested players than we do roster spots, and some are turned away.  If your child is not offered a spot, please do not be discouraged.  Particularly at the youngest age groups there will be opportunities to be considered for future teams and even those selected to our 8U team this year are not guaranteed selection to future travel teams. Additionally, after the summer and fall seasons for the 8U team, LMLL often has two travel teams at each age at least up through 12U.

  • What to bring? What to Wear? Players should wear baseball pants, baseball cleats and must wear proper protection (athletic cup) as if they are going to play a game. Bring your bat, helmet, glove, other gear you regularly use to play baseball (example catchers’ equipment if you are a catcher).

  • When will 8U players trying out be notified about team selection? – Players will be notified if they have or have not been selected to a team by Friday, May 2.

  • What will the rest of the Spring look like for the 8u Team?  Once the team is selected, there will be some limited 8U Travel activities like practices and scrimmage games, but these will not conflict with Spring Rec (as noted below, all 8U Travel players are required to play Spring Rec).

  • What is the fall season and how are fall teams selected? - The fall season starts in September and usually runs through October sometimes in the first week of November.  Fall travel is played on the weekends with 2-3 practices during the week.  All summer players who want to play in the fall are guaranteed spots.  But in almost all years there are spots available for additional players who did not play in the summer. Players who are not selected to the summer team will be reconsidered for fall once we know the number of players returning for the fall season from our summer roster.  This will be determined early to mid-August.

  • What are the fees? - Fees for the summer will be approximately $895 which includes the uniformSummer fees will be required to be paid within a week of being notified of team selection in order to retain a roster place. Fall fees will be a lower amount and non-summer players will pay an additional uniform fee.

  • What if I am considering another travel program and they are asking me to commit to the Summer before LMLL tryouts are complete?  If this is the case, just let us know, and the 8u coaches will work to evaluate your child on an individual basis to accommodate your travel schedule.

  • Please register for tryouts (for those interested) no later than Sunday April 20 (see above for registration information)
