LMLL Travel Softball Registration for our 2026 Summer and Fall teams for Softball ages 10U through 14U (born AFTER 8/31/2010) is NOW OPEN!
(Note – this is our TRAVEL programs, not Spring Rec. Spring Rec registration is expected to open in December.)
Important details:
Registration Required by FRIDAY, Oct 31st: All players must register by this day to lock in spots for the Summer 2026 rosters and Fall 2026 rosters. No payment will be required to register, but deposits will be required upon team selection - see below.
How old is my child? Your player’s age is determined as of August 31, 2025 for the 2026 Summer program (this is a different date than prior years), so the Summer team level ages will be:
Players “age up” in the Fall, so your player’s 2026 Fall age will be one year higher than Summer.
* A limited number of 8U’s may be invited to register for 10U.
Why is LMLL requiring registration now? LMLL is looking to build upon its growing number of softball players these last few years and with the increased size is aligning our Travel Softball registration process and timeline to match our Travel Baseball program. This will allow us to more effectively plan on how many teams we will have, how many coaches we will need, who the coaches will be, how much field space to secure, and when to schedule pre-summer training activities and even several tournaments (more on that below). In order for LMLL to commit to the associated expenses in advance it needs to have certainty on its rosters and fees.
What about winter workouts and Spring Travel? LMLL will not have Spring Travel Softball in 2026 in order to focus on Spring Rec, and to allow our older players on school teams to focus on their school teams. We will not have winter workouts. Instead of winter workouts and Spring Travel, we will hold Summer Team practices on Sunday afternoons in May & early June for the Summer 2026 Travel teams. This will allow those Travel teams to build momentum & cohesion so when spring rec & school ball ends, they will already have been practicing together for once a week for 4-6 weeks and will be ready for the Summer 2026 season.
Level of player commitment: Playing on an LMLL travel team is a commitment that must be made and followed by every player. Players joining an LMLL travel team commit to participate in all practices and games. If you do plan a Summer vacation, please try to limit it to only a portion of the season and note it in the comments field of your registration. This way we can plan around that with how many players to add to each roster. Ideally we would hope you plan most of your vacation for the last 2-3 weeks of August when the Summer travel season is finished.
Players who commit to play on a Summer travel team are expected to follow through with this commitment to be part of the Summer team and program. Late withdrawals can leave a team shorthanded going into the Summer season. It is very difficult filling unexpected roster opening as the season is getting underway. Please make sure you are ready to commit to a season before registering for Summer. We do not allow “Test Drives” in our program. We want committed softball players who are looking to develop their ability.
Summer Travel Softball: We anticipate having 3 Travel teams in the 14U - 12U range and a 10U team all playing a fairly intense “tournament” schedule. All 4 of those teams should expect to play on average 2 games per week, either on weeknights and on either day of the weekend. There will also be some tournament games which can take up the bulk of the Saturday/Sunday. Teams practice 2 or more times per week. The goal is to field highly competitive Travel teams for those 4 teams. We play in the Greater Hudson Valley Softball League. Note, away games can sometimes be in towns up to a 60 minute drive and tournaments can be as far as Eastern Long Island, New Jersey, or the northern most part of the Hudson Valley. The season will go from early June to early-mid August (for teams that make it all the way through playoffs).
We anticipate a 2nd Summer 10U Travel “non-tournament” team that will play, on average, one game per week (occasionally 2) and have on average one practice per week. It will not play in tournaments though it will play in the Greater Hudson Valley Softball League. Practices for this team will also take place on Sundays in May & early June. 10U players will have the opportunity in their registration to indicate if they have a preference for playing on a Tournament or Non-Tournament team; we will make every attempt to accommodate preferences, but in some circumstances may not be able to.
What are Summer fees? A non-refundable initial deposit payment of $400 (plus ~3.5% processing fee) will be required within a week after players are notified of their teams, but can be paid in three monthly payments. Full Summer Season fees will be determined and remainder charged closer to the Summer season, and are expected to be in the range of $650-$850 for the 10U, 12U and 14U tournament teams, and $550-$625 for the 10U non-tournament team. Players who did not play 2025 Fall or who otherwise need a new uniform will also need to purchase a uniform, for a currently estimated cost of around $65..
How to register? Players must register through the LMLL website by going to the 2026 Travel Softball Players registration. The deadline to register is Friday, October 31, 2025. If you already have a SportsEngine account and player profile from LMLL or from another local sports league, use that account – do not create a new account or player profile. Whoever creates your account and registers the player(s) will be the only person (or at least the only account) that can register those player(s) in the future. Additional adults can be added to the account, but they won’t be able to register the players (see Adding Parents/Guardians in SportsEngine for more information). All players must satisfy LMLL eligibility requirements.
How are players selected for Summer 2026 season teams? All players will be assigned to a team based on ages, experience, positions played, taking into account time away from the summer, coaches input, and overall needs of the team. The travel committee will make all final decisions as to which team these players will be rostered to based on the above factors. At some point tryouts may be necessary to evaluate & fill certain positions like pitcher or catcher for each team.
Fall 2026 season players: Players who play in the Summer will receive right of first refusal to play in the Fall with the other players who played in the Summer on the same Fall team, to the extent we can field those teams in full or if new players need to be added who did not play Summer, to fill out those rosters. More information on Fall, including teams and fees, will be provided at a later date, but Fall fees are expected to be in the range of $550-625, plus around an estimated $65 for players who need a uniform..
Non-Summer (Fall 2026 season) players: Players who do not wish to play in the Summer 2026 but register for the Fall 2026 season now will still be placed on a Fall 2026 team.
What if I don’t register now? Can I still play in the Fall of 2026? Typically some Summer players will elect to take the Fall off from softball which frees up some roster spots. In the event those roster spots emerge and are available, an email will go out in August 2026 announcing that and asking players to register their interest.
What is the Fall Commitment? For Fall, due to limited daylight, school activities, and other sports, ALL Fall teams will practice once or twice a week with approximately 1 weekend day of game play.
What about 8U/Champions program? The 8U age players will have a registration process in the spring, which will likely be for the Champions program (a little less intense/more instructional than Travel). Notification will go out to all players at this age in the spring..
If I register now will my child be assigned to a team? Yes. If you register now you will be assigned to a team. There will be no cuts.
Next steps. 2026 LMLL Travel Summer team rosters will generally be communicated in November. As noted above, at that time a $400 non-refundable deposit (plus processing fees) will be due within a week to hold a player’s roster spot.
Spring Rec softball participation. LMLL Travel softball is designed to supplement and support LMLL Recreational softball. LMLL Travel players (7th grade and younger) will be required to register for and participate in the LMLL Spring Rec softball season (Rec registration will open later in the year).
Coaches/Managers. If you are interested in volunteering to assist in coaching or managing a Travel team, please complete a 2026 Travel coaching registration. You will need to have or create a SportsEngine account - if you already have one from LMLL or another league, please use that (see Adding Parents/Guardians in SportsEngine for information about how to link an existing adult account to another account containing player profiles). You will also be required to complete a 2026 LL Volunteer registration and a 2026 Background Check registration – see our Volunteer Registration page for details. (NOTE: These two additional registrations are not available for 2026 yet; those who complete their Travel coach registration now will be notified when you need to complete them.)
We are looking forward to another successful year of Travel softball in 2026!
