Spring Rec Tryouts Cancelled
Still expecting full Spring Rec seasonUpdatedFriday February 19, 2021 byLMLL Registrar.
*** UPDATE: Tryouts are now cancelled. Competitive division team selection will proceed based on experience from prior seasons, information submitted in player registrations, and coaches' knowledge. Competitive players will be notified of their teams by mid-March ***
With school vacation coming up, we wanted to provide an update regarding the upcoming season. We still expect to have a full season for all ages, and are working hard to prepare for a great Spring. We have had strong registration at all levels, so we know the kids are anxious to get outside and play!
However, at this time we are postponing tryouts for all competitive divisions (Softball & Baseball Green, Blue, Majors, MajorsPlus, Seniors), which were scheduled for the week after vacation, February 22-28. After a lot of investigation and consideration, we were unable to find a suitable venue where we felt tryouts could be conducted safely and in conformance with relevant guidelines. We are still considering other options, but for now tryouts are postponed indefinitely.
Tryouts or not, we will be forming teams for all our players registered for competitive play (2nd/3rd grade and up) by mid-March, and the lack of tryouts will not result in any player being left off a team. We will provide an update on process and timing soon. Our non-competitive divisions (Gold and T-Ball divisions) will be assigned to teams later in March per our usual practice.
As we indicated when we opened registration early this year, holding tryouts as planned was always a question, and we have been considering a lot of alternatives to ensure our players have the best possible experience this Spring. More details will be coming soon.
We hope everyone has a good and safe vacation, and is getting excited for a great Spring Rec season (and no more shovelling snow)!!!
