Spring Rec Reg is OPEN!!!

Late Fee Deadlines: 2/14 for Youth Competitive; 2/28 for Non-Competitive & Seniors

UpdatedFriday February 19, 2021 byLMLL Registrar.

It’s finally 2021, and LMLL is happy to announce that registration for our Spring Recreation season for all divisions of T-Ball, Baseball, and Softball is now open to eligible players age 4 (as of 12/31/20) and up!

Go to our Home Page and click the big red Register Online button. (If you already have an LMLL account, please use it to register, do NOT create a new account even if prompted to do so.)  See the end of this communication for relevant deadlines.

Registration is also open for CoachesUmpires/Scoreboard Operators, and Sponsors.  Please click on the links for more info.

What’s different this year?  Not surprisingly, there will be some key differences this Spring.  Most importantly, as with our very successful 2020 Summer Rec season, we will once again be requiring everyone to follow a detailed set of COVID-19 Guidelines to maximize safety for everyone’s protection.  These continually evolve and likely will do so more before the season, but you can review now if you want to learn more about how LMLL expects to address these critical aspects.

What about tryouts?  Tryouts are an important part of our competitive divisions (2nd/3rd grade and up), both to help make sure players are in appropriate divisions and so that teams are as balanced and competitive as possible.  We are planning to hold tryouts this year, but only if it can be done in an acceptably safe manner, including by significantly limiting the number of players, coaches and others in attendance at any time, maintaining social distancing, etc.  Further details will be provided regarding tryouts as they approach, which may require that each player sign up for a specific tryout slot. If we determine that we cannot conduct tryouts in a safe manner, we will follow an alternative means of assigning players to divisions and teams.  In anticipation of this possibility, the registration form will ask you to provide your best assessment of your player’s skill to help in the selection process.  Note that in any case, as always there will be no "cuts"; all players who timely register WILL be placed on a Spring Rec team.  See our Tryouts page for more information.  2-18-21 UPDATE: Tryouts have been cancelled, but season will continue as planned.  Competitive players will be notified of teams by mid-March.

3rd Graders in BB/SB Gold.  3rd graders who are not ready to move to a competitive division can choose to participate in the instructional Gold division which will also include 1st and 2nd graders.  See our Division Descriptions page for more info.

Softball.  Since we could not have a full Rec Softball program last Summer, and many players did not have the opportunity to develop their skills, we have made some changes to the Softball program this Spring.  3rd graders will play in Gold, unless they previously played Gold in 2019, attended at least half of our 2020 Summer Softball clinics or played in our 2020 Summer Rec Baseball program, or have similar experience, and choose to register and tryout for the competitive division.  In light of this, there will be no Green division this year; instead, Blue division will include 3rd-5th graders and will serve as our introductory competitive division and during the season will progress to more sophisticated play. And our Majors division, which typically consists of 5th-7th graders, will this year also be eligible to 8th graders who did not play on an LMLL or other Travel team last year and do not expect to this year, so that those players have a chance to play their last Rec season.  See our Division Descriptions page for more info.

11th Grade Baseball Players will be eligible to play in our Baseball Seniors division (with 8th-10th graders), so long as they did not play on an LMLL or other Travel team or a school team last year and do not expect to this year, so that those players have a chance to play their last Rec season.  See our Division Descriptions page for more info.

What happens if the season is cancelled fully or partially?  Given the success of our unprecedented Summer Rec season in 2020, we are very hopeful that we will be able to conduct a full Spring Rec season this year.  However, if we are forced to cancel all or part of the season, as we did last Spring we will seek to refund all fees to the greatest extent possible, retaining only that portion necessary to cover any unrecoverable costs LMLL incurred in preparing for or conducting the Spring reason; last Spring we were able to refund approximately 85% of regular fees paid.  Rest assured that we are working to minimize and delay these costs as much as possible.

Registration Deadlines.  The deadline to register for youth competitive divisions of Baseball and Softball (2nd /3rd-7th/8th graders – Green (BB), Blue, Majors, MajorsPlus (BB)) is Sunday, Feb 7th.  The deadline for non-competitive (Pre-K thru 3rd - T-Ball Minors, T-Ball and BB/SB Gold) and BB Seniors (8th-11th grade) divisions is Sunday, Feb 28th.  After the deadlines, late fees will apply and placement cannot be guaranteed.  See our Registration Information and Division Descriptions pages for more information.

We are excited to welcome everyone back to LMLL Spring Rec and hope we see you on the fields this Spring!
