Updated Tuesday March 6, 2018 by LMLL.
Please go to our homepage and click on the Register Online box at the top. To register, you must create an account if you don't already have one (if you have registered as an LMLL player in 2011 or later and are under 18, you can register under your family account - however, if you are 18 or older, you must create your own Adult profile either under your family account or under a new account, and then register under that Adult profile). Then, click on "Apply to Coach/Volunteer," select the relevant person, click "Register Now," scroll down to the Umpires section, and click on "Register as an Umpire." You must be at least 14 years old (as of April 1) to apply.
As part of the online registration process, you will be required to do all four of the following:
- Complete, SIGN and submit a paper LL Volunteer Application. You can access the application by clicking here. You can fill it out on the screen, but you must print it out and sign it BY HAND. If you are under 18, you also must have your parent/guardian sign where indicated. All fields must be completed (except Social Security number, which can be blank in the LL application- but must be provided in the online background check form described below). Make sure in particular that you check all the boxes in the lower left area regarding any prior issues. You will be prompted to provide this application, and a copy of a government-issued photo ID (see below), in the registration process, so you may want to complete it before starting to register. (If you have already submitted a LL Volunteer Application for another LMLL role for the same calendar year, you will not need to do so again.)
- Submit a copy of a government-issued photo ID (students who do not have a driver's license or passport may use a school-issued photo ID). If you have already submitted a Photo ID for another LMLL role for the same calendar year, you will not need to do so again.
- Complete and submit the online LMLL umpire registration application,
- (if you are 18 or older), complete and submit an online background check form before you may be considered for a role or involved in any way with or exposed to kids in the program. If you have already completed the online background check form for another LMLL role for the same calendar year, you will not need to do so again.
You are not finished registering until you have clicked on the "Complete Order" button and received an email confirmation of your umpire registration and background check submission. You will be subject to a background check based on the information you provide. Make sure you have done all FOUR things: (1) complete, sign and submit the LL Volunteer Application, (2) submit a copy of your photo ID, (3) complete the LMLL online registration process and (4) complete the online background check form (if 18 or older).
You will be contacted by our Umpire Coordinator. It is important to note that this form is an application, and that all decisions regarding umpire selection and division assignment are made by the League Board. It is also important to note that because of our need for softball umpires, we're requiring all baseball umpires to also be prepared to work softball.
For any questions about the registration process or umpire responsibilities, please contact the Umpire Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
